Union des Théâtres de l'Europe gathered, in the last 3 decades, some of the most important European theatres and artists. Through festivals, exhibitions, exchanges, masterclasses, cooperation projects, the UTE help create a continuous flow between West and East, between generations, between tradition and innovation. Our celebration is inspired by this rich history. With the help of the Interferences International Theatre Festival, we wish to remember some of the best performances presented at past editions of the UTE festival and look forward to new horizons.
All across Europe a series of three masterclasses for young European actors and one artistic residency took place this summer in context of the CONFLICT ZONES network programme of the UTE in collaboration with the Teatro Nacional São João do Porto, the Comédie de Reims, the National Theatre of Greece, the European Cultural Centre of Delphi and the Sfumato Laboratory Theatre in Sofia. With the public presentation on 1st July of the ISO Theatre's masterclass directed by Margarita Mladenova and Ivan Dobchev at the Sfumato Theatre in Sofia this year's season comes to an end; for now.
During the first weekend of this year’s edition of the European festival in Reims a group of 42 young international theatre enthusiasts met at the Comédie de Reims in France to see shows, attend workshops and discussions, to meet and exchange with the artists presented at the festival.
Discover an additional translation into Italian (Sonia Antinori: 5 mattine) and a selection of speeches held during the conferences as well as dramaturgical materials of all five plays that were created in context of the TERRORisms project.
The masterclass brought together four duos from Germany, Italy and Greece composed each of one stage director and one stage designer. The young theatre artists worked together with Russian actors from the State Academic Maly Theatre Moscow on Hugo von Hofmannsthal´s Elektra. At the end of the workshop, the 18 and 19 September 2015, the participants offered a work in progress, presenting the results of their cooperation at the Ordynka venue of the Maly theatre. Find here a selected documentation of their work.
Digital Natives, our Creative Europe co-funded project, has gone a long way. Two conferences from a series of four - Digitisation I. Digital Hermits and Digitisation II. Les Nouveaux codes du numérique - are already behind us and we are looking foreward to the third conference - Digitisation III. Digitalität und Demokratie - that will take place on the 31 March 2019 at Volkstheater Wien.
Our upcoming General Assembly will be hosted by the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj. The Assembly will take place in Cluj, Romania, during the Interferences Festival.
