The 9th edition of the Interferences International Theatre Festival, organized by the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj, will take place from 3-17 November. The theme of this year's edition, 35 years after the change of regime, marks the commemoration of the Romanian Revolution of 1989, a turning point that redefined not only the fate of the country but also the identity of the community, ushering in a new era.
Festival in Times of War
Calm down. This is not the end, nor the beginning of the world.
The Hungarian Theatre of Cluj is hosting the 8th edition of the Interferences Festival from the 17th to the 27th of November. The theme of the 2022 edition is Fear / Hope.
UTE joined the Forest International Festival and presented a digital edition of the 19th Festival of Union des Théâtres de l'Europe. Eight performances created by UTE member theatres or personal members were streamed worldwide from the 13th of September until the 20th of September 2021.
Union des Théâtres de l'Europe gathered, in the last 3 decades, some of the most important European theatres and artists. Through festivals, exhibitions, exchanges, masterclasses, cooperation projects, the UTE help create a continuous flow between West and East, between generations, between tradition and innovation. Our celebration is inspired by this rich history.
After an 11-year hiatus, the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj will host one of the most important events of our organization, the 18th Festival of the Union of Theatres of Europe.
The 12-day event will take place between November 19 and 30 this year, where the productions of 15 of our member theatres and individual members will be presented.
For the first time, the TERRORisms festival held between 24 to 28 June 2015 in Stuttgart brought together the five productions created for the TERRORisms project of the UTE.
The festival marked the end (for now) of a two-year collaboration between the Schauspiel Stuttgart (Germany), the National Theatre of Oslo (Norway), the Yugoslav Drama Theatre Belgrade (Serbia), the Habima – National Theatre of Tel Aviv (Israel) and the Comédie de Reims (France).
Dedicated to the “stories of the body”, the 2014 Interferences Festival featured works by UTE members Silviu Purcarete, Ilan Ronen, Csaba Antal and Gábor Tompa, alongside performances by various international directors, in addition to concerts, film screenings, exhibitions and workshops. The festival also hosted the first meeting of our "Think Tank Young Journalists Online", which laid the foundations for the creation of an online multilingual magazine dealing with theatre in Europe.
