Between 22 and 31 August 2017, the ISO members and the Emerging Playwrights of our Harbour40 project worked together in Thessaloniki.
This residency created a synergy between two long-term undertakings of the ISO—International Super Objective Theatre and the Young Emerging Playwrights who created the Harbour40 project. Three playwrights from Bulgaria, Greece and Italy; one dramaturg from Greece; and 11 actors from the ISO collective met and worked together during this residency in Thessaloniki to further develop the existing Harbour40 texts.
Located close to the port of Thessaloniki, the National Theatre of Northern Greece hosted this residency that dealt with various harbors and their hidden stories. With the very befitting view of the Mediterranean Sea, the rehearsal stage provided the perfect setting for this meeting between these diverse and multi-lingual artists who are from all over Europe and the Middle East. They were brought together to further develop the dramatic texts that had been written in the context of the UTE project Harbour40 by the Emerging Playwrights Angeliki Darlasi, Stefan Ivanov, Amir Nizar Zuabi and Roberto Scarpetti. In a triangular constellation of three of the playwrights, the NTNG dramaturg Amalia Kondoyani, and the ISO collective, the multi-cultural group adapted these texts, and combined them in a dramatic stage version that was shown in an open rehearsal on 30 August at the Theatre of the Society for Macedonian Studies.
