The 2024/25 season is a turning point for us. For the first time in the history of our theatre, we are moving house from our residence at Erjavčeva 1 to relocate in our interim venue. There we will operate until we can return to the completely refurbished Drama. Fortunately, it is only the location that is to change. We shall not. We remain committed to our values, our core mission, our long-term vision, and our ambitions. We will continue to give our best and present to you an outstanding programme that will disengage you with every performance from your everyday life, at least for a while, and will impart new insights, reflections, and emotions. (Vesna Jurca Tadel, general manager and artistic director of SNG Drama Ljubljana)
In addition to the moving to temporary premises, this year SNG Drama Ljubljana has successfully staged 5 performances on the big stage and 4 on our small stage – Mala Drama. The most successful productions were The Welkin (Lucy Kirkwood, dir. Sebastjan Horvat), Cyrano de Bergerac (Martin Crimp, dir. Tin Grabnar) and Children of the Sun (Maxim Gorky, dir. Paolo Magelli). All the productions are united by the search for new theatrical approaches, distinctive ensemble acting and themes that correspond to the times we live in. SNG Drama is dedicated to staging classics, new texts and first performances of Slovenian drama at the highest quality level. Their international activities include exchanges with related or similar theatres, including within the UTE network, and participation in international festivals.
